So, you're finally engaged! Let everyone know and start planning your wedding. Planning a wedding isn't easy, but it can be lots of fun! What it shouldn't be is stressful. That's why we've created these Wedding Planning Checklists to help you make sure that you get things done on time. You can also download our planning calendar to help you get tasks done on time. Here are the things you should take care of right after you're engaged.
Wedding Ceremony & Reception - Choose the date for your wedding
- Start brainstorming and coming up with ideas for your wedding. Decide what type of wedding you want. Consider the location, size, etc.
- Decide where you want to have your wedding ceremony and reserve the location.
- If your wedding will be at a home, start planning any home or garden improvements that might be required.
- Decide who will officiate at the wedding ceremony and contact them to ensure that they will be available.
- Decide where you would like your reception to be held and reserve the location.
- Choose a color scheme for your wedding and reception.
- Choose a photographer and book him or her for your wedding and reception.
Budget - Download the budget spreadsheet from Fantasy Wedding so that you can keep track of your expenses.
- Start planning your budget.
- Decide who will pay for what.
Wedding Guests - Start collecting guest lists from the bride, groom, and your families. Decide who you have to invite, who you should invite, and who you would like to invite.
Clothing - Find the wedding dress you've always dreamed of and order it. Don't forget your headpiece!
Wedding Party - Choose the maid of honor, best man, bridesmaids, and ushers/groomsmen.
Invitations & Announcements - Contact your local paper about an engagement announcement.
