Now it's time to get serious! The wedding date is closer than you think, and you've got a lot to get done. If you've been dilligently following our checklists, you shouldn't be too crunched for time. If you've been procrastinating, it's time to stop.

The most important thing you need to do now is send out your invitations. Here are some other things you should finish about six weeks before your wedding.

Wedding Ceremony  & Reception

  • Finish shopping for all items you'll need for the wedding and reception. This includes a guest book, ring pillow, toasting glasses, etc.
  • Decide where you will have guests sign the guest book.
  • Finalize the menu and beverages for your wedding.

Wedding Attendants

  • Plan a dinner with your bridesmaids, and plan to give them their gifts at this dinner.

Wedding Guests

  • Decide how you'll keep track of gifts received and RSVPs. Send out a thank you note as soon as you receive a gift and mark that a note has been sent.

Invitations & Announcements

  • Mail out your invitations along with information on the accommodations you've arranged and maps to help your guests find the location of the ceremony and reception.
  • Contact your local newspaper regarding a wedding announcement.
  • Mail initiations for your rehearsal dinner.

Clothing & Appearance

  • Choose a hairstyle and makeup for the wedding.
  • Make arrangements to have your hair, makeup and nails done on the day of your wedding.
  • Choose and reserve clothing for the groom, ushers/groomsmen, ring bearer, and father of the bride.

Photography

  • Take formal wedding portraits.

Marriage License

  • Obtain your marriage license.
